Outlook- Meetings are created as Teams Online Meetings by default

In outlook 365, users are experiencing issues with teams auto generating a meeting link whenever they create a new meeting. Users can manually disable this by unchecking “Add online meeting to all meetings” under file > options > calendar. However, there has to be a solution for firm wide change.

Goal: Prevent teams from being the default meeting provider whenever user creates a new meeting.


1. Deploy the following registry key to users through group policy.

User configuration > Preferences > windows setting > registry > new registry item

Key path: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Settings\Data
Value name: global_onlinemeetings_enabledbydefault
Value data:

2. Deploy the second set of registry values:

Key path: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar
Value name: OnlineMeetings_EnabledByDefault
Value data: 0

3. Once the reg value are deployed, Microsoft teams should not auto generate a link every time a user creates a new meeting.
